Pregnancy Related Complications
Some women may experience complications during pregnancy which can impact the health of the mother as well as the foetus. Women irrespective of their medical history, age, and physical conditions may develop complications. Some of these are common while some require immediate medical assistance. In some cases, the doctor may declare a high-risk pregnancy if your complications are fatal. You must stay updated with all the information to prevent and manage pregnancy complications. Some of the common pregnancy complications are explained below:
High blood pressure
High BP during pregnancy can lead to preeclampsia which is a serious condition that is developed mostly after the 20th week. It is more common in women with existing hypertension and proteinuria conditions.
Gestational diabetes
Women who are not diabetic may develop diabetes during pregnancy. This can be prevented by limiting sugar consumption and regular monitoring of blood sugar.
Anxiety and depression
Some women get anxiety and slip into depression which is catastrophic for their baby's health. This can lead to them developing other health issues.
Preterm Labour
While a healthy pregnancy lasts for 40 weeks, if a woman delivers before 37 weeks, it is called preterm labour. Babies born prematurely are at a risk of several health conditions due to incomplete growth and development.
A pregnancy loss before 20 weeks is called a miscarriage. This can happen due to various reasons. Vaginal bleeding, cramping, and vaginal leakage are some signs of miscarriage. Women must report these issues immediately to the doctor for timely medical intervention.
It is important to be careful and vigilant about health during pregnancy to avert potential complications and deliver a healthy baby.
