The actual shape of heart is like a cone and it is more like a hardworking machine inside the body. If you want to know the size of your heart, clench your hand to make a fist. That is the size of your heart! Approximately, a heart weighs around 300-500 grams and is located at the center of the body but slightly onto the left side. It is very rare that people have their heart on the right. Heart is a group of cardiac muscles that move involuntarily(movement without conscious control) to supply purified and oxygenated blood to all the parts of the body. The nutrients are also supplied through the blood to promote nutrition. Now you know why heart is considered to be one of the most important human organs.

Now, let us tell you that just like every other organ, heart too needs oxygen and if it is not provided with sufficient amount of oxygen, your heart may stop! This is called a heart attack. The initial symptoms of heart attack is debilitating pain in the chest that radiates to arms, back, neck and jaw. However, heart attack is not sudden as your heart give warning signs like breathlessness, swelling in feet, lethargy, burning sensation in chest, irregular rhythm, etc. You should never ignore these signs as you can prevent heart attack if you act on these signs immediately.
