Using it in your hair care routine can result in more than one benefit and enhance your look.

Benefits Of Hibiscus Oil For Hair

hair-growth

Promotes Hair Growth

Hibiscus is rich in vitamins A and C, which stimulate hair follicles and promote hair growth. The oil nourishes the scalp, reducing hair fall and promoting the growth of new, stronger strands.

According to a 2003 study conducted by the Journal of Ethnopharmacology, the leaf extract of hibiscus improved the length and health of the hair follicles in lab rats. Compared to the flower extract, the leaf extract proved to be more efficient.

Strengthens Hair

Hibiscus is packed with amino acids, which are the building blocks of hair. This helps in strengthening hair strands, reducing breakage and split ends. Your hair will feel noticeably softer and more resilient.

Prevents Premature Greying

If you have started to notice grey hair, start using hibiscus hair. Its regular use can help delay the onset of premature greying. This is because the antioxidants present in hibiscus work to combat free radicals, preventing damage to the hair pigment and maintaining your natural hair colour.

Conditions and Moisturises

Hibiscus hair oil acts as an excellent natural conditioner, leaving your hair soft and manageable. It helps lock in moisture, preventing dryness and promoting a healthy shine.

Treats Dandruff and Itchy Scalp

The antifungal and antibacterial properties of hibiscus help combat dandruff and soothe an itchy scalp. If you regularly apply it, you can achieve a flake-free scalp and healthier hair.

Adds Shine and Lustre

Hibiscus oil also helps to provide a natural shine to your locks by restoring their vitality. This way you can say goodbye to dull and lifeless hair.

Reduces Hair Thinning

Hibiscus is known to inhibit the activity of the enzyme responsible for hair loss. Regular use of hibiscus hair oil can thus help prevent hair thinning and contribute to maintaining a fuller head of hair.

Ingredients

  • Fresh Hibiscus Flowers (10-12)
  • Coconut Oil (1 cup)

Instructions

  1. Collect 10-12 fresh hibiscus flowers. Allow the hibiscus flowers to dry in a shaded area to retain their potency.
  2. Once the hibiscus flowers are thoroughly dried, blend them into a fine powder using a blender or grinder.
  3. Take a clean and dry glass jar. Combine the hibiscus powder with one cup of coconut oil. Make sure you immerse the hibiscus completely in the oil.
  4. Place the jar in a sunny spot for about two weeks, allowing the hibiscus to infuse into the oil. Shake the jar daily to ensure thorough mixing.
  5. After two weeks, strain the oil using a fine sieve or cheesecloth to remove the hibiscus residue. Once the oil has been infused, transfer it to a clean bottle.
  6. Store the hibiscus-infused coconut oil in a cool, dark place. Apply the oil to your hair and scalp regularly, leaving it on for at least an hour before washing it out with a mild shampoo.
