In addition to the cold season, pollution also plays a significant role in respiratory disorders like asthma, bronchitis, pneumonia, common cold and cough. The severities in some cases may even lead to cardiovascular problems.
Tips To Stay Protected Against The Winter Smog
Smog is a frequent used word in the winter season. The term 'smog' is a combination of two terms; smoke and fog which typically refers to the reduced visibility due to air pollution. Here are a few ways you can steer clear of various winter maladies with respect to smog.
1. Stay hydrated
During the winter season our body is not easily dehydrated or it does not feel as much as it does during summers. This makes us drink very little or almost no matter throughout the day. In a way, not drinking enough water clogs the airways with makes it extremely difficult to breathe and in turn leads to cough and cold. Therefore, in order to avoid the same, abnd you keep the respiratory organs clean, drink at least eight glasses of water every day alongside a stream session every now and then.

2. Mask it up
The novel coronavirus made masks a mandate for all of us. However, ever since the severity of the virus is declining we hardly see any one with a mask on. However, the coronavirus is not the only virus that the masks protect us from. When there is visible smog outside, it is recommended that you either skip going out or wear a mask so that the polluted air does not directly go through you nozzles into your lungs.
3. Avoid smoking
Irrespective of what the weather is like smoking is always hazardous. However, during the winter season when it is already very cold outside along with severe pollution, smoking can prove to be deadly. For people with existing respiratory problems, even second hand smoke can also be very dangerous.
4. Say no to burning firewood
It is understandable that to beat the cold we try to sit alongside a burning firewood and/or trash. However, not only it cater to the greater damage of air pollution but it also immediately affect your breathing pattern and respiration. Therefore, make yourself a hot chocolate and snuggle up inside a blanket for a warm and cozy feel.
