Skin rashes are a common problem that can affect anybody, irrespective of age. It is caused due to viral, fungal, and bacterial infections. It makes your skin itchy and leads to irritation and inflammation. Keep reading to learn how to treat skin rashes with the help of Ayurvedic remedies.

What Are Skin Rashes?

Skin rashes are abnormal changes in the texture or colour of your skin and are caused due to inflammation and various other conditions. Rashes can be painful and can hamper your daily activities. There are multiple skin rashes like eczema, insect bites, and ringworm. Your rashes may be smooth, moist, dry, bumpy or cracked.

Causes Of Skin Rashes

Skin rashes can be caused due to various reasons, such as viral, fungal or bacterial infections. It can also be caused due to insect bites, allergens or skin irritants, heat, genetic disorders, and autoimmune diseases. 

Ayurvedic Remedies For Skin Rashes

There are plenty of ayurvedic herbs and oils available that can help in relieving skin rashes. Some of them are as follows.

1. Neem

Neem has antiseptic properties and can be applied to the affected area as a paste along with ghee or coconut oil. You can also wash the affected area with the help of neem.

2. Tulsi 

Tulsi has antimicrobial properties and helps reduce inflammation and heal skin allergies. You can make a paste of tulsi with honey and apply it to the affected area. 

3. Aloe Vera

You can apply aloe vera directly to the skin for relief. It is antiviral, anti-inflammatory and also an antioxidant. 

4. Coconut Oil

Coconut oil can help reduce the inflammation on the skin and also help strengthen the skin barrier. It prevents irritants from entering and keeps the skin hydrated.

5. Essential Oils

Essential oils like tea tree oil, almond oil and chamomile can help treat skin rashes. You can mix them in equal proportions to get relief from rashes.

6. Chirata

Chirata has anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, and anti-viral properties. You can mix chirata with coconut oil and apply it to the allergic area.

7. Ela

Ela is an Ayurvedic herb with anti-microbial properties that helps purify the skin and treat rashes on the body. You can mix ela powder with coconut oil or ghee and apply it to the area.

8. Khadira

Khadira powder can be applied with ghee on the affected area as it has anti-inflammatory properties and helps treat rashes and itchiness on the skin.

9. Oatmeal Bath

Oatmeal contains oleic acid and linoleic oil and has anti-inflammatory properties, which help to repair the skin. You can add a cup of uncooked oatmeal to your bathing water to reduce redness and itchiness on the skin.

Things To Keep In Mind

  • Apply sunscreen when you go out, as skin rashes like eczema and dermatitis may erupt when the skin is overexposed to the sun.
  • Take a bath with lukewarm water and avoid using hot water. 
  • Do not scratch or touch the affected area. 
  • Do not use makeup products on the affected area as it might block the air supply and slow the healing process.
