Summers mean oily and greasy skin. Ask people who fall in oily skin-type category what they have to go through during summers when their skin becomes even more oily without applying any cream or moisturizer. This is why, many people avoid using moisturizer because it makes their face sweat profusely and become greasier. But this is a wrong practice as it makes the skin dehydrated and prone to acne breakouts. So, how to naturally moisturize oily skin without making it look oily? Check out this article to know how kitchen ingredients can help in moisturizing your skin along with oil control.

Natural Ways To Moisturize Oily Skin

Moisturizing is a crucial step of skin care that shouldn’t be skipped. Hydration helps in keeping the skin plump and elastic. When your skin is dry, it increases the risk of many skincare problems along with wrinkles, freckles, fine lines and premature aging of the skin. It is a myth that oily skin doesn’t need moisturization because the skin is secreting oil anyway. You need to feed your skin to enjoy its beauty. Switch to water-based moisturizers during the summer season to induce hydration without causing oily appearance. Meanwhile, here are some ways to moisturize oily skin using only natural ingredients.

Milk

This is the ultimate moisturizer we all have in our homes. You must have seen people using milk cream on face which is also a good natural cream but that is suitable for dry skin as milk has fat that can cause trouble to oily skin. Why milk? Milk has lactic acid that is found to maintain skin barrier function, thereby moisturizing the skin.

Sunflower Seed Oil

While coconut oil and olive oil are extensively used in skin care, these are not good for oily skin being them greasy. So, for oily skin, we have sunflower seed oil. This contains linoleic acid that strengthens skin barrier, hydrates the skin and prevents skin problems in summer.

  • Just take some drops of cold-pressed sunflower seed oil and massage it on your skin.
  • You can leave this just like you do with a moisturizer.

Jojoba Oil

Another healthy oil for skin is jojoba oil which possesses humectant and emollient properties. This means it helps in retaining moisture in the skin and keeping it soft and hydrated. A lot of skincare brands are now using jojoba oil as the main ingredient because of its skincare benefits. If you have oily skin, you can use jojoba oil to hydrate your skin.

  • Just take some drops of jojoba oil and apply it on your face.
  • If you do this right after taking the shower, it will be most beneficial.
  • You can also mix jojoba oil with sunflower seed oil to hydrate your skin when it feels dry and dehydrated.

Aloe Vera

Aloe vera is a great natural moisturizer that you can use on your face during summers. Not only it moisturizes your skin but also keeps it cool to prevent heat rashes and sunburns. This forms a protective layer on the skin to protect it from harmful UV rays.

  • You can use aloe vera directly on your face but do this only at night.
  • When using in the day, mix aloe vera gel with jojoba oil and apply.
  • Take lesser aloe gel in such case to not make your face look gel-loaded.

Rose Petals

Lastly, you can also make cream with rose petals that are very great for maintaining health and beauty of your skin.

  • Simply take some fresh rose petals and boil them in a cup of water.
  • Let the water reduce to half and then turn off the gas.
  • Let it cool down and add aloe vera gel or jojoba oil to it.
  • Use this on your face.
