Brain disorders, with their profound effects on individuals and their loved ones, hold a significant place in our collective consciousness. Among these, stroke stands as a particularly critical condition, demanding urgent attention and specialised care. World Brain Day, which falls on 22nd July every year, serves as a way to raise awareness about brain disorders and the importance of seeking medical attention promptly.

We spoke to our expert Dr Vipul Gupta, Director, Stroke Unit, Artemis Hospital, Gurugram, who explained brain disorders and their effects on our lives.

Brain disorders, including stroke, aneurysms, and Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) can have devastating effects on individuals and their families. These conditions demand immediate medical attention and specialised care.

Depending on the area of the brain affected, stroke can result in a wide range of impairments, such as paralysis, loss of motor skills, difficulty in speech and language, memory problems, and even emotional and behavioural changes.
