One evening when Rishabh Gupta, an MBA student at the University of Canda West went shopping, he found himself struggling to squeeze into XXL clothing. At 120 kg, his weight had become a burden both physically and emotionally. Determined to change his life, he embarked on a remarkable transformation journey. From being unable to fit into XXL clothing to confidently donning size M outfits, Gupta shed an astounding 45 kg.
In a candid interview with Onlymyhealth, Rishabh Gupta took us through his weight loss journey from 120 kg to 75 kg. He also shared the experiences of his childhood, adulthood that motivated him to take on the weight loss challenge.
"I was People's Fun Time"
"My family never liked my weight, so they would leave me home during family functions," Gupta explained. During my school days, I was everyone's favourite joke, especially during Physical Education (PT), where I was the last to finish the run. Gupta stated that Indian society is very judgmental, and if you are a fat guy, people would make fun of you and the least you can do is laugh with them.

"My Lifestyle Lacked Discipline"
"My peak weight was 120 kg, which was entirely due to my unhealthy lifestyle. I was introduced to junk food when I was in 9th grade," said Gupta. "From momos to pizza, my day would revolve around all kinds of junk," Gupta added. By the time I was in 11th grade, XXL apparel also fit me no longer, and I could not find clothes that could hide my belly." Other than being overweight, Gupta also had a lot of acne on his face and an unhealthy relationship with eating. Gupta's friends always considered him a short-sighted guy, and it's clear that Gupta had nothing joyful in his life based on his looks.
The Turning Point
"I was low on confidence and was extremely shy about my excessive weight. But it was also when I started getting man boobs that I realised I needed to do something, so I began dieting and working out at the gym," stated Gupta. After 120 days of hard work, Gupts was finally able to attain a healthy weight. He now weighs 75 kg and is fitter than ever.
Rishabh Gupta's Weight Loss Diet
When asked about his secret diet and workout plan, Gupta stated that he began by eliminating carbs. His ideal day would begin with drinking lukewarm water with lemon, followed by eating egg whites omellete for breakfast. There was only chicken soup and some vegetables for lunch. The evening meal, which was also served as a pre-workout meal, comprised carbs in the form of bread and peanut butter. The last meal was usually chicken breast with vegetables. Gupta followed the same diet for 100 days and says it is the ideal diet because it is high in protein and low in calories.
Secret Workout
Gupta said, "My workout included both strength training and cardio. A typical day would probably start with 15 minutes of treadmill jogging, followed by 45 minutes of weight lifting and end the session with 15 minutes of cycling." He added, "I used to focus more on compound lifts like squats, bench press, shoulder press, leg press, and lat pull down during my weight-lifting sessions."

Lesson Learn From Weight Loss
There are three important lessons that Gupta learned from my weight loss journey.
1) Weight loss requires discipline and consistency in maintaining healthy habits. Many a time you have to ignore the scale and focus on eating a balanced diet, exercising regularly, or practising mindful eating.
2) You need to have a fixed goal in mind. "Earlier, I would go to the gym but then eat junk when I got home. It became really easy for me to lose weight once I established a goal for myself," he stated.
3) "The ability to follow my hunger has been the most crucial factor in helping me attain my goal weight. I made it a practice to eat only when my body demanded it, and at other times I would fool it by sipping water," he concluded.
